On December 8, 1856, Mother Joseph of the Sacred Heart and four sister companions arrived in the Washington Territory, at what is now Vancouver, Wash. Since then, hundreds of Sisters of Providence have continued their legacy of compassion, courage and caring. On December 8 of this year, we will begin a yearlong celebration of all of their many contributions to education, health care and social services in the West.
Sisters of Providence, Providence Associates and Providence-sponsored ministries throughout Mother Joseph Province will launch the year of celebration with prayer services that will continue monthly until the actual anniversary date in December 2006. In addition, three major events are planned.
Please join us in our celebration, attending our anniversary events and using the prayer services you’ll find here.
