I was honored to fly Sister Claire as a Lifeguard pilot about 20 years ago for medical care in Seattle. 5 years ago, I got my Nursing degree at the age of 57 and came to work at Providence because of the caring flight nurses and staff that I worked with in the past. Sister Claire as I remember was a bit nervous to be on the airplane but smiled and showed interest in everyone that she met on the trip. She was a gracious, lovely, faithful women. I will always remember her and that 1 meaningful flight experience.

In your hands, O Lord,
we humbly entrust our sisters.
In this life you embraced her with your tender love;
deliver her now from every evil
and bid her eternal rest.

The old order has passed away:
welcome her into paradise,
where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain,
but fullness of peace and joy
with your Son and the Holy Spirit
forever and ever.

For some strange reason, I only met Sr. Joan Campbell this past summer, when she joined us in protest of the death penalty for the entire four day annual Fast & Vigil to Abolish the Death Penalty at the US Supreme Court. She stayed with us at the homeless shelter where many of us are housed during this event. Joan was such a terrific spirit, lifting us up, praying, and regaling us with many stories of her experiences. She was so excited just to be with us, and I invited her to share during one of our evening teach-ins. Sr. Joan gave what may have been her final public speech on this issue. This video is worth watching from the start, but you can also fast forward to where Sr. Joan starts, near the 17 minute mark. https://www.facebook.com/fastandvigil/videos/1809500202451070/

I was amazed at the front page article by Sr. Joan in Caritas - how timely! I want to personally invite other Sisters of Providence to join us next year, both because it is part of your mission, and because it would be a fitting tribute to Sister Joan! Love, --abe

I am trying to find orphanage records from Vancouver for Cleta Gray, my grandmother and her brother. She was probably there about 1900 when her mother died. I know nothing about the brother.
Thank you for any help or direction.

We just moved to Shelton and were looking for a health center nearer to us than St. Joseph's in Tacoma, and came across St. Peter Hospital in Olympia. Began reading the history and realized it was founded by the same Sisters of Providence that taught at Holy Family School, on Roxbury in Seattle. I loved the Sisters then. I understand they no longer teach there, but have been to the church since our return home from 33 years in Las Vegas law enforcement. So happy to be going to a hospital that is Catholic and founded by the same Sisters. God bless you!

I was a co-worker many years ago with Sister Jo Ann Showalter in Ga.I would love to reconnect with her. May God continue to bless her as she serves Him in the various ministries she is involved in. It was so interesting reading about the Sisters of Providence and their mission.

The Sisters will always have a special place in my heart and prayers. They taught at my home parish in Sun Valley (Our Lady of the Holy Rosary). Sr. Therese Multz (Congratulations on your jubilee!) was especially loved by all of us...she taught so many of us the love of the Christ child and the "little way" of her patron, St. Therese of Lisieux. God bless you all for your continued ministry!
