Celebrating 175th anniversary of the congregation’s founding
March 25, 2018, marked the 175th anniversary of the founding of the Sisters of Providence in Montreal in 1843. Throughout the congregation, including in Mother Joseph Province, prayer services were held on Saturday, March 24, to begin a yearlong celebration. There is much more to come as we celebrate in the months ahead.

Mission Trip to Guatemala
In March, Sister Susanne Hartung, Mission Integration Officer for Shared Services, Providence St. Joseph Health, made a mission trip to Retalhuleu in Guatemala with Faith in Practice: Life Changing Medical Mission.
On the first morning there, she shared a reflection on God’s healing love with the 49-member surgical team. “As we meet the patients and their loved ones for the first time we bless them,” Sister Susanne wrote. “They have traveled hours from their villages for surgery, no doubt waiting years for care. I am privileged to pray with the patients before and after surgery. Their gratitude is beyond description.”
Sister Rosa Sen Nguyen Professes Perpetual Vows
Sister Rosa Sen Nguyen made profession of perpetual vows of poverty, chastity and obedience as a Sister of Providence in a bilingual liturgy at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 10, at St. Finbar Church in Burbank, California. A reception followed at Providence High School, where Sister Rosa serves in full-time ministry in the Finance Department and supports the school’s campus ministry office.
