Christmas Greetings from the Leadership Team

2022 Christmas Letter

Dear friends,

The world is in a state of flux few of us would have imagined just a few years ago. Rapid changes and extraordinary world developments challenge us every day. At times, every aspect of life seems to be shifting under our feet.

Fortunately, as people of faith, we have the gift of God’s love and Providence to steady us. During the Christmas liturgy, St. Matthew reassures both St. Joseph and us:

VIENNA, AUSTRIA – The Nativity paint in presbytery of Salesianerkirche church by Giovanni Antonio Pellegrini (1725-1727).

Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which means “God is with us.” (Matthew 1:23)

Sisters of Providence are determined and passionate about bringing God’s love and compassion to the world and about living out the admonition of Mother Joseph of the Sacred Heart, “whatever concerns the poor is always our affair.”

You are part of this mission through your generous contributions, prayers and ministries. Together, we manifest God’s Providence and minister side by side in programs around the Mother Joseph Province:

  • Transitions works to end poverty and homelessness for women and children in Spokane through programs providing childcare, housing, job training and safe spaces.
  • La Casa Hogar transforms lives in the farming community of Yakima by building community and educating Latina families.
  • Sisters in El Salvador enrich the lives of hundreds of students through the Beca Program. Thanks to a generous donation of land, the Sisters will soon build a second facility.
  • Project Genesis helps survivors of commercial sexual exploitation. Our funding helps support new mothers.

You are making a difference through the ministries of the Sisters and their partners in faith who provide help, a compassionate presence and loving hearts that benefit all of us, regardless of where we live.

We rely upon your prayers and generous donations. Please consider a special year-end gift to the Sisters of Providence. We hope you will use the enclosed envelope today.

Our special prayers for you and your families during this blessed Christmas season.

Lovingly in Providence,

Sr. Barbara Schamber, SP, Provincial Leader
Sr. Jacquelin Fernandes, SP, Provincial Councilor
Sr. Margarita Hernandez, SP, Provincial Councilor
David Neisius, Provincial Treasurer
