Sister Eleanor Goligoski (Sister Mary Eleanor), age 77, a Sister of Providence for 58 years, died September 4, 2022, at St. Joseph Residence, Seattle, Wash. Funeral Mass: Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Mount St. Joseph, Spokane, Wash., at 11am. Bonney Watson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Sister Eleanor was born to the family of Frank and Anne (Sobota) Goligoski, Jr., in Havre, Mont. on May 25, 1945. Her family also included a sister, Barbara, and brothers, Bob and Don.
Sister Eleanor entered the novitiate of the Sisters of Providence in 1964, received first vows in 1966 and final vows in 1971.
Her educational achievements included: a BA in Social Science from Seattle University, Seattle, Wash (1968); elementary teaching certificate for the states of Washington and Montana; and a MS in Administration from the University of Notre Dame (1983). She also took several business, accounting and computer courses over the years.
Sister Eleanor’s many ministry assignments included: teaching at St Raphael School, Glasgow, Mont. (1978-80); Assumption School, Walla Walla, Wash. (1971-78); St. Aloysisus School, Spokane, Wash. (1978-79): finance as Sisters’ Fund Bookkeeper, Spokane, Wash., (1980-84); St. Patrick Hospital, Missoula, Mont. (1984-85); Registrar and Treasurer at Providence Retreat Centre, Edmonton, Alberta (1966-88), and in 1989 Sister Eleanor became the assistant administrator/bookkeeper of Mount St. Joseph, Spokane, Wash. She was also a volunteer Treasurer for the religious community.
Sister Eleanor was grateful for her religious community, family and friends and co-workers who have encouraged, supported and challenged her both personally and spiritually. In her spare time, Sister Eleanor loved to read, mainly biographies and autobiographies, and enjoyed the outdoors.
Sister Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers. She is survived by her sister, Barbara, nieces and nephews, and by the Sisters in her community.
