This summer’s Community Days gathering served as a fitting introduction for a Chilean Sister in the process of transferring to the Sisters of Providence. Sr. Lorena González began her ministries in El Salvador in May, and will be busy over the course of a two-year tenure there. She will continue to participate in the thriving Beca scholarship program alongside Srs. Marcia Gatica, SP, and Marita Capili, SP; and will minister alongside Sr. Vilma Franco, SP, to serve communities around the mountainous region around Arcatao.

Sr. Lorena is in discernment to join the Bernarda Morin region in Chile, and is joining the Kairos Local Community while in El Salvador.

During a brief visit to Washington state in July and August, Sr. Lorena attended the 2026 editions of Community Days and Jubilee, and toured parts of the Mother Joseph region. She also ministered at Providence Regina House, a Mission Service Opportunities site, alongside fellow Sisters Susanne Hartung, SP, Marisol Avila, SP, Julie Macasieb, SP, and Myrta Iturriaga, SP.
