Reflections on Montreal: After the gathering, several participants looked back on the experience. See the video here
Fifteen sisters in temporary vows, three apostolic novices and members of the Congregational Formation Team arrived at the Sisters of Providence International Centre in Montreal in April for a 3½-month stay. They came from different backgrounds, different province experiences and different languages for this unique opportunity to get to know other new sisters who now are family.
The idea for this experience stemmed from a 2008 discussion of seven Providence formation teams meeting in Montreal – three teams from Montreal, Haiti and Cameroon representing Emilie Gamelin Province, plus teams from Holy Angels, Mother Bernarda and Mother Joseph provinces, as well as from the Philippines vice province. They brainstormed about bringing all the sisters in initial formation together for this extended time period after first giving each a three- to six-month experience in a province and language other than their own. With that background, they would be prepared to comfortably spend time together in Montreal in preparation for first or final vows.

The sisters found some time to have fun in Montreal. Can you guess who’s who in this photo from a birthday celebration? |
