Sisters of Providence Recognize 50 Years of Ministries in Haiti

A Sister of Providence in Haiti.
Sr. Karin Hawkins, SP, traveled to Haiti in support of ministries and the semicentennial of the presence of Sisters of Providence in the nation.

This summer, the Sisters of Providence marked a half-century of ministries in Haiti with a Jubilee celebration and a formation gathering.

Sisters who serve in the Caribbean nation are members of the Émilie Gamelin region, which also spans Canada and Egypt. The Sisters’ positive works in Haiti include a 450-student pre-and-elementary school in the community of Torbeck, which opened in 2017.
