Sisters Join with Families to Promote Vocations

By Sr. Marie-Thérèse Gnamazo

We recently participated in an event in Yakima, Washington, called Congreso Católico de Evangelización Familiar (Catholic Family Evangelization Congress). It is one of the largest Catholic Hispanic religious events in the Northwest, combining prayer, Mass, music and inspirational speakers. The event was free, conducted in Spanish and everyone was welcome.

We were invited by Fr. Jaime Chacon, the leader of the organization. The Hispanic community always welcomes the Sisters with great joy. By doing so, they feel that being with those in Consecrated Life brings them closer to the presence of God.

There were 11 of our Sisters, two Associates and a friend who came to support the Vocation Ministry. Our presence really made a difference, and a lot of people were very happy to see us and visit with us.

We had a big table where we presented the material, and a lot of people were pleased to receive some information about us and some gifts too.

It was a beautiful experience for some of us who were there for the first time, and we really enjoyed this event. I think the presence of our sisters in Yakima continue to give hope and comfort to our brothers and sisters there.

When we went to say thank you and good bye to Fr. Jaime, he said there will always be a place for the Sisters of Providence in the Diocesan event. He was happy to have us.
