Back in 1888, a year before Montana became a state, the Sisters of Providence incorporated there. On March 17, Montana Secretary of State Linda McCulloch presented the Sisters of Providence with a Centennial Award for being an active corporation for more than 100 years. The presentation was made at St. Patrick Hospital and Health Sciences Center in Missoula, Mont.
Provincial Councilor Jo Ann Showalter traveled to Missoula to accept the honor on behalf of all of the Sisters of Providence. She was accompanied from Spokane by Sisters Ida Mae Marceau, Lily May Emert and Anna Marie Koval.
